Elena Hernández Ramón MD, PhD
Dr. Elena Hernández Ramón is a physician-scientist and educator with a distinguished career spanning clinical care, biomedical research, and premedical advising. As Director of the Pre-medical Program at the Office of Intramural Training & Education at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). For over 11 years, she has served as a dedicated premedical advisor, offering personalized guidance to aspiring physicians and physician scientists at every stage of the application process. Dr. Hernandez Ramon led workshops for thousands of aspiring physicians, covering medical school admissions, application strategies, and interview preparation. Her one-on-one guidance was widely recognized for its precision, insight, and strategic impact.
A national leader in premedical advising, she has organized MD and MD/PhD admissions panels for the NIH Graduate and Professional School Fair and has served as an active member of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP) for over a decade, frequently presenting at both national and regional conferences.
Dr. Hernández Ramón is also a dedicated mentor, having earned the 2016 AWIS Best Mentor of the Year Award for her outstanding commitment to student success.
